Bruce Bergman (1954 - 2017)

Bruce Bergman came from Vancouver to the Yukon in 1978. He was a talented musician, and he joined his brother Bob and George McConkey in the band Bootjack, the first house band at the Kopper King Tavern. He and his wife Deb played in many Whitehorse bands over the years, and he taught guitar and worked as a technician for CBC radio for many years. He was proud of his students and supported all musicians, often calling them onto the stage to play with him. He was also a great father to sons Adrian and Joel.1)

Bergmen was a staple of the Whitehorse music scene for 25 years and he also had a reputation for making sound sound good. He had a MacGyver-like skill in making broken equipment work and much of his estate was gear that he built from scratch.2)

After surviving a kidney transplant Bruce died after a diagnosis of Creutzfeld-Jakob disease.3)
