Alexander Aikins “Billy” Biggs (b. 1878)

Billy Biggs was a blacksmith in Dawson in October 1916 when he enlisted to serve in the First World War.1) He saw action in England and Canada and returned to Dawson in the fall of 1919 after a three-year absence. In 1920 he reported very little business after his return.2) [Blacksmithing had changed over the war years.] In May 1927 the War Veterans Dawson Club affiliated with the Canadian Legion. The first officers of the Dawson Branch No1 were John F. McLennan (Pres), A.A. Bigg (1st Vice), F. B. Johns (2nd Vice) and the trustees were Frank G. Berton and E. Harry Brasseur.3)
