Laura Beatrice Berton, nee Thompson (b. 1898)

Laura Berton was a schoolteacher in Toronto when she accepted the offer of a job teaching kindergarten in Dawson in 1907. She met her husband to be, Frank Berton, at Granville, a mining town on Dominion Creek. She wrote a memoir of her Yukon life, I Married the Klondike, and it has been reprinted several times.¹⁾
