William Bell (b. 1872)

William Bell was born in England.1) He was a constable with the North-West Mounted Police in Dawson in 1905.2) In 1911 he was single and living with a parent at Steele Fork.3) He was mining in the Dawson area in 1916 when he enlisted to serve in the First World War.4) He was recruited by Captain George Black and was in England by August 1917.5) He returned to the Yukon after the war. The Canadian Yukon Patriotic Fund loaned returned soldier W. Bell $100 on 29 May 1920 to buy a cabin.6) In 1922, Bell was the president of the Dawson Yukon Order of Pioneer Lodge.7) In 1923-24 Wm. Bell was working as a librarian in the Dawson Free Public Library.8)
