W. T. Bragg
Captain Bragg was from Victoria. In 1898 he was the captain of the sternwheeler Ora, working for the Bennett Lake and Klondike Navigation Company.1) The Ora was the first riverboat to ascend the Yukon River through the turbulent Five Finger Rapid to White Horse Rapids.2) The Victoria merchants were happy with the Ora’s success as she was the first boat out and back to Dawson with provisions.3) Captain Ritchie was the master of the Ora in September 1898.4)
In 1901, Captain Bragg was master of the sternwheeler Bailey owned by the Canadian Development Company. The Bailey was assigned to the Big Salmon River run and was tied up at Whitehorse most of the 1902 season. It may have been owned by the British Yukon Navigation Co. (YP&YR) by that time.5) In 1902, Captain Bragg was master of the Sybil and in 1909 he was master of the Casca.6) The Casca was a British Yukon Navigation Co. (WP&YR) boat.
