Gordon Caley

Gord Caley was born and raised in Dawson City. He placer mined on Clear Creek and Adams Gulch. He was a founding member of the Klondike Placer Miners' Association and one of its first directors. He is also a member of the Yukon Order of Pioneers. In the 1960s, Brenda came to Dawson from Saskatchewan to teach and she and Gord were married in the fall of 1967. After teaching for a few years, Brenda worked at the information centre in Dawson. She is an active member of the community and a helpful volunteer on a number of local committees. In the early 1980's, Gord and Brenda opened Guggieville Campground. The family lived in Dawson year-round until the flood of 1979 damaged their house beyond repair. In the fall of 1979, they packed up and moved to British Columbia for the winters. Their daughter Darlene and twin sons Lorne and Dan were all born in the Yukon. Gord and Brenda Caley were the Klondike Placers Association Miners of the Year in 1997.1)
