Harry Campbell (1928 – 2010)
Harry Campbell was born in Lucknow, Ontario on his parent’s farm. He was the youngest of five children (four sisters) born to Cyril and Mamie Campbell. He worked in Kimberly, British Columbia and Devon, Alberta before coming to the Yukon. He and his family arrived in Mayo in October 1953 and he worked with the Cole Brothers and lived in Keno, Mayo, and Dawson. In the late 1950s, he started Campbell and Ford Trucking which evolved into Klondike Transport. In the early years, Harry hauled freight, mail and fuel between Dawson, Mayo, and Whitehorse. He was involved in various trucking enterprises, gold mining, road construction, and moving buildings of every size and description. He contributed significantly to community causes and individuals. He had two children, Brock (Anna Margaret) and Loree (Bob Morrison).1) Harry's second wife, Viola Campbell was mayor of Dawson from 1977 to 1979.
