Randy Clarkson
Randy Clarkson grew up in Ashcroft, British Columbia and came to the Yukon in the early 1980s. Randy is a mining engineer and developed revolutionary radio tracers to evaluate the gold recovery efficiency of sluice boxes, jigs, and drills. Over 16 years, Clarkson became a world authority on placer gold recovery and took his expertise to Argentina, Alaska, Bolivia, California, Chile, French Guyana, Guyana, Honduras, and Mexico. He was hired by the Yukon Executive Council in 1992 to negotiate the Yukon Placer Authorization (YPA), and he developed the dilution/flow computer model that is the basis for the YPA. In 2002, he conducted research and worked with the Klondike Placer Miners’ Association (KPMA) to re-negotiate the YPA.1)
Randy and Laura Clarkson were chosen Mr. and Mrs. Miner by the Klondike Placer Miners Association in 2002.2) Clarkson is the acknowledged expert in the field of gold recovery using water and gravity with advanced engineering methods.3)
