Robert Emmett “Bob” Cousins (1925 – 2019)
Bob Cousins was born in Vancouver. He joined the Canadian Army at a young age and was stationed in Edmonton when he met his future wife Edie. They moved to Whitehorse in 1954 and raised a family. Bob was a Freemason and a member of the Shriners. He belonged to Ride for Dad Yukon, the Canadian Owners and Pilots Association, the Harley Owners Group, Yukon Search & Rescue, and many more Yukon organizations. In 1964, he designed and built Cousins Airstrip at the junction of the Alaska Highway and the North Klondike Highway, and it continues to be used as a flight training field.1)
