Erik Epstein

Eric Epstein attended the University of British Columbia where he received a Batchelor of Arts in theatre.1) In 1984, he was a founder of the Vancouver Shakespeare Festival that later became the Bard on the Beach series. In his second year with the festival, he came to Whitehorse to work with the Guild and direct Tartuffe, a play about a French impostor. This began a twenty-five-year relationship with the guild. Epstein travelled up to work on Guild productions through the 1980s and in 2000 became the artistic director while often appearing as an actor in the plays. Over nine years he was involved with thirty-two Guild productions in his role as artistic director. He was also involved in Nakai Theatre, Separate Reality theatre company, the Whitehorse theatre Ensemble, the Yukon Arts Centre, and True West.2) He was the artistic director for the Frostbite Music Festival from 1988 to March 2014. In 2002, Eptein became the artistic director for the Yukon Arts Centre.3)
