Oskar Erikson

Oskar Erickson was a Swede who trapped in the Nation River and Charlie Creek area. He was run out of the area because he took martin over the border to Alaska and traded them for wolf skins that he could sell, and also get the bounty for, on the Canadian side. He got caught, and the RCMP blackballed him. Oskar told Dan and Archie Van Bibber about the rich resource area. JJ Van Bibber trapped the area for five seasons and Dan stayed trapping there for longer. After Oskar got blackballed, he bought a trading post at Moose Creek on the Macmillan River. In time he wanted to sell his posts at Moose Creek and Russell Creek and move south to British Columbia where he used to run a trap line. Pat Van Bibber joined JJ and his wife Clara to pay Erickson six thousand dollars for everything including his boat, houses, and traplines.¹⁾
