Charley Farcint

Charley Farcint came into the Yukon River basin with the Schiefflin [Schieffelin] party in 1882 as the engineer for the steamer New Racket. He stayed in the area after the rest of the party left and prospected on the Stewart River during the summer of 1884. He travelled 150 miles up the river but could only find gold worth $8 a day. He continued to prospect until the spring of 1885. McQuesten mentions a C. Lancier with the Schiefflin [Schieffelin] party who wanted to stay in the country, not to prospect but to work on some of his inventions. This is probably the same man.1)
