Frank David Friesen (1930 – 1999)
Frank Friesen was born in Nipawin, Saskatchewan. He came north in 1953 to work on the Teslin Bridge and also worked on bridges at Pelly and Carmacks. He moved to Whitehorse in 1955 where he worked in construction during the summers and tended bar in the winters. He joined General Enterprises in 1963 and worked there until his retirement in 1980. Frank was active in the United Church and helped to build the camp at Braeburn Lake. One of the cabins is named for him. Frank was good curler and, in 1965, represented the Yukon in a playoff with British Columbia to go to the national level.1)
