Donald James Gill (1964 - 2020)
Donnie Gill was from the Esdilagh First Nation. He was an Indigenous Red Seal carpenter and worked on many places in the Yukon including scaffolding bridges over the Yukon River, on the Dempster Highway, tour company cabins at Pelly Farm, Kwanlin Dun Cultural Centre, Carcross/Tagish Learning Centre, the Yukon Women in Mining offices, and many homes, shops and camps. He was well-liked and respected at the Yukon Carpenters Union who had volunteers to make his birch and oak casket with a crest of carved redwood. He is remembered as an amazing tradesman and for his constant smile, unflappable work ethic, and infectious positivity.1)
