Francois-Xavier Gosselin (1861 - 1916)

Francois-Xavier Gosselin was born in Quebec. He worked as a notary for fourteen years before coming to Dawson in October 1898. He was named Yukon Crown Timber and Land Agent in January 1899.1) Martin Patrick Berrigan retained Gosselin to press the Alex McDonald estate to settle a debt. Gosselin was a member of the Yukon Order of Pioneers (YOOP) and sat on the St. Mary's Hospital board.2) He was appointed Commissioner of the Yukon from 1907 to 1912. Gosselin died of heart failure at the Yukonia Hotel in Dawson in 1916.3) The Dawson City Museum holds a collection of letters written to Gosselin regarding claims on Dominion Creek.4)
