Isaac Liard Gillespie (b. 1879)

Isaac Liard Gillespie served in the Riel Rebellion as a boy.1) He is listed as being a miner in Atlin and a policeman.2) He described himself as a painter living in Atlin when he enlisted in 1916 to serve in the First World War.3) He had mining claims in the area at the time and they were exempted from cancellation during the war.4) Gillespie returned to the Yukon after the war and was working as a painter in Carcross in 1923-24.5)
