Isaac Liard Gillespie (b. 1879)

Isaac Liard Gillespie served in the Riel Rebellion as a boy.¹⁾ He is listed as being a miner in Atlin and a policeman.²⁾ He described himself as a painter living in Atlin when he enlisted in 1916 to serve in the First World War.³⁾ He had mining claims in the area at the time and they were exempted from cancellation during the war.⁴⁾ Gillespie returned to the Yukon after the war and was working as a painter in Carcross in 1923-24.⁵⁾
