Ida May Goulter, nee Mack (1893 - 1990)
Ida May Mack was born in Minnesota. Four or five Mack brothers came to the Yukon in 1898, well supplied and with oxen. One of the brothers, Courtlandt Perry Mack, was Ida May’s father. The Mack brothers prospected south of Carmacks and staked rich iron ore and copper claims which were never developed in their lifetimes. Ida May came to the Yukon to join her family in 1908. She married ex-Mounted Police officer, trapper, and fox farmer Frank Goulter in 1914 and they raised a family in Carmacks.1) Ida May’s sister Hazel, and her husband George Brown, operated the Carmacks Roadhouse, circa 1911-12.2) Dolly Creek was named with Ida May Goulter in mind.3)
