John Godson
John Godson arrived on the first Canadian ship of the Klondike stampede to land in Skagway. The Islander arrived on 29 July 1897 with 430 people and 102 horses. Godson led a contingent of four Canadian customs officials. He and four special constables intended to cross the White Pass to Tagish where they would set up a customs station to collect duties and enforce the law.1)
