W.H. “Jack” Houston

The Hudson’s Bay Company bought the store at Stewart Island in 1939, and Houston arrived to organize the post. He built a store in 1940 and managed it from 1939 to 1943.¹⁾ The Stewart Island post was called Fort Nelson, and the Hudson’s Bay Company moved their building to Fort Nelson after the Fort Selkirk store closed.
