Patricia Alice Harvey, ne Henders (1927 – 1985)

Pat Harvey was born in Arcola, Saskatchewan, the daughter of a pharmacist. She studied at the Toronto Conservatory of Music and became an accomplished pianist. She married Bruce Harvey in 1948, and they moved to Whitehorse in 1968. Pat started working at what became the Yukon Liquor Corp as a clerk-typist, was appointed administrative officer of the corporation after five years, and became the program manager in 1979. Pat was a dedicated Conservative and ran as a candidate for Whitehorse West in the 1982 election, narrowly losing to then opposition leader Tony Penikett. In 1983, Pat Harvey was made acting deputy minister of the Department of Consumer and Corporate Affairs and in 1984 was named assistant deputy minister of Justice. She died from a heart attack after travelling to Vancouver to seek medical treatment for angina.1)
