Billy Johnson

Billy Johnson was a survivor in the Chilkoot Pass avalanche of 1898. He worked in Dawson as a driver for the Cascade Laundry Co. and grubstaked Billy James and Nels Nelson while they were prospecting the headwaters of the White River. He received a full partnership in their Chisana claims. In 1917, Billy James, Matilda Wales, N.P. Nelson, and Billy Johnson were partners and mined Nos. 4, 5, 6, and 9 on Bonanza Creek in the Chisana goldfields.1)
