Charlie Jimmy (b. 1910)
Charlie Jimmy was born on Klazas Creek, in the Little Salmon area, to parents Jimmy and Annie Silverfox. Jimmy got his name because he was a successful trapper and Charlie followed in his footsteps.1)
When he was young, Charlie attended school for two and a half weeks in Little Salmon and from that start he taught himself how to read in English. When Charlie moved to Mayo in 1934, he taught the children how to read. His first dictionary finally fell apart in 1974 and his son-in-law, Ben Benard, gave him another.2)
Charlie Jimmy had five children: two sons (David and Douglas) and daughters (Betty Lucas, Sally Jimmy, and Annie Bisson). Most of Charlie’s money is spent going south every year to visit his family.3)
