M. R. Jamieson (1866-1928)

M. R. Jamieson was born in Australia in 1866 and arrived in Dawson in 1898. He moved to Dawson and, at some point, acquired a claim at the Engineer Mine. He located in Stewart, British Columbia during the boom and owned the Northern Hotel, which burned in 1914. He managed the Copper Tavern at Skeena Crossing and in 1919 established the Hyder Hotel in Hyder, at the Portland Canal camp.1)
