John Stuart “Jack” Kingscote (1935 – 2024)

Jack Kingscote was born in Victoria, British Columbia. He worked as a heavy-duty mechanic for International Harvester and then taught industrial Arts at Eric Humber High School in Vancouver. He moved to Mayo in 1976 and taught industrial arts there, and then at F. H. Collins High School in Whitehorse, where he retired from teaching in 1996. In retirement he worked as a tour guide for Holland America. During one Sourdough Rendezvous, he and Myrna offered hospitality to a group of Air Force pilots, and this developed into a tradition of hosting Rendezvous dinners attended by pilots from Canada and the United States. The Canadian Snowbirds Air Demonstration Team were frequent guests. Jack and Myrna Kingscote were named Mr. and Mrs. Yukon by the Sourdough Rendezvous committee [date] and they received the Commissioners’ Award for their community work.1) The Rendezvous Air Show has been renamed the Kingscote Air Display.2)
