Steven Kozmeniuk (b. 1982)

Steven Kozmeniuk was born in Whitehorse. He led a band called Boy that was nominated for Outstanding Rock Recording for the 2005 Western Canadian Music Awards in Vancouver. Most of Boy's last album was written in Whitehorse and is filled with references to northern family and friends. By 2005, the band had sold about 50,000 albums and toured in Japan. Kozmeniuk moved from Whitehorse to Toronto.1)

Kozmeniuk plays percussion, bass, guitar, and keyboards in the genres of rock, hip hop, pop and dance. He is a record producer, songwriter, and remixer who has worked with Madonna and Nicki Minaj.2) In 2016, he won a Grammy award as part of the team that produced Kendrick Lamar’s To Pimp A Butterfly album [Best Rap Album].3) In 2021, he and Dua Lipa received three Grammy nominations.4)
