G. Albert Lancaster

Albert Lancaster was born in California.1) He located a Bench Claim on the left limit of Claim No. 2 Eldorado Creek on 3 July 1897. Lancaster started mining with an open cut and this was the first claim located and mined in the White Channel Gravels.2) The sourdoughs laughed because he was not mining in the valley, but Lancaster eventually recovered two hundred thousand dollars in gold from his 100-foot claim. It was after this that the miners understood the course of an old riverbed, high on the hill, was the source of an extremely rich layer of gold.3)
