Albert Leboeuf (b. 1874)
Albert Leboeuf found paying gold on a fork of Scroggie Creek in 1912 and named the creek Walhalla after the gold fields in Australia where he may have prospected.1) In October 1916, Leboeuf was recruited by Captain George Black for service in the First World War. At the time he owned the Alma quartz claim and placer creek claim 52 Above Discovery on Walhalla Creek. Through an act of parliament, his claims were held free from cancellation during his active service.2) Private Leboeuf was discharged on April 25, 1919 and arrived in Dawson on July 16 of the same year. He applied to the Yukon government for $30 in assistance for getting back to his mining claims.3)
