Don Lewis
Rev. Don Lewis arrived in Whitehorse in July 1970 as the new minister of the Whitehorse St. Andrew’s United Church. The church was supported by the Mission Field, but the well-established church decided to be self-supporting, and even supported an ecumenical church in Faro as well. Over the years, repairs and improvements were made to the downtown church and a manse was purchased in Porter Creek. Rev. Lewis received an honorary doctorate from St. Stephen’s College, Alberta, to celebrate his twenty-five years in the ministry, and his wife Isobel was an award winner at the International Women’s Day. Don and Isobel retired to Alberta in 1992.1)
