Luke Lacasse (1933 – 2013)

Luke Lacasse was the first elected mayor of Carmacks, and he held the post from 1985 to 1991. He strove to make the community a better place to live by making recreation a priority for the community. He was honoured with the Association of Yukon Communities Hanseatic Award for his outstanding contribution to Carmacks and Yukon, as he was instrumental in getting the recreation complex established. Lacasse died at age eighty after years living with Alzheimer’s disease.1)
