Samuel Lansing

Samuel Lansing mined the gravel bars of the Stewart River in 1883. He prospected widely and was one of the first at the Fortymile River gold discovery in 1886. He was moderately successful during the Klondike strike and was the manager of the Harper and Ladue Co. mining operations. Lansing retired in 1926 to Sumner, Washington.1) Lansing Post on the Stewart River is named for Samuel Lansing.2)
