Andrew Jackson Maiden (1837-1913)

Andrew Maiden came to the Yukon from the California goldfields. He crossed the Chilkoot in 1884 and found gold on Maiden Creek, a tributary of the Fortymile River, in 1886/87. He was nicknamed “Old Maiden,” being middle-aged. Maiden moved to Fairbanks in 1906/07 and died there, a respected pioneer.1)
