Alain Masson

Alain Masson competed in three Olympic Games and four world championships as a skier and a cyclist. He retired in 1992 and worked as a wax technician with Cross Country Canada at seven world championships and four Olympic Games. In 1995, he joined Cross Country Yukon as head coach and sport coordinator. His athletes have always done well but two years stand out for him. In 2006/2007, Whitehorse hosted the Canada Winter Games and Yukon won three medals. Later in the season, Yukon skiers won a record seventeen medals at the Haywood Ski Nationals. In 2011/2012, five Yukon skiers were chosen for national teams and five went on to compete at the 2012 World Junior & U23 Championships. Alain Masson was inducted into the Sport Yukon Hall of Fame in 2013.1)
