Charles Mills

The Victoria Barracks in Syndey, District Headquarters, Military Forces of the Commonwealth, certified that Pte C. Mills, 9th Battalion Infantry Egypt ,was discharged from A.I. Force on May 3, 1915 as medically unfit. He was suffering from a broken knee. His conduct was very good. There was a letter from the Yukon Commissioner to C. Mills who asked for intervention in his application for the position of fireman with the Pacific Cold Storage Company in Dawson, June 26, 1918. A letter from Chas Mills on June 20, 1918 clarifies his position. Before coming to Dawson, he was working as a compressor man at the Pueblo Mine in White Horse but the mine closed. In Dawson, he was working at 54 Camp on Hunker with a pick and shovel putting in deadmen for the dredge but it was hard on his knee.1)
