Don Mark (1944 – 2017)

Don Mark was born in Cleveland, Ohio and was in raised in several American states. He graduated with a B.Sc. in Resource Management from the University of Montana and moved to the Yukon in 1973. He spent years in the Carmacks and Pelly area, trapping and working with Highway Maintenance.¹⁾ He wanted a life based on self-sustainability and operated a very successful apiary for a time.²⁾ Afflicted with COPD, Mark and his family moved to Whitehorse in 1998.³⁾ Naomi Mark (b. 1988) spent a summer learning the bee-keeping business from her father and she directed and co-starred in the film How to Bee about that time spent with her father.⁴⁾
