James Alex Murdoch

Alex Murdoch was born in Whitehorse into a family of writers and actors. He started playing music at age six and was touring northern Canada with musicians and groups at age fourteen. By the end of high school he had played on several album releases with other musicians. He settled in Edmonton where he and his band, the James Murdoch Band, released four albums. His independent release Polyphonic won him the pop album of the year award at the 2002 Prairie Music Awards. He has been nominated for several Western Canadian Music Awards including three for his 2008 album In Transit.¹⁾
