Kaiser Mervyn

Kaiser Mervyn was raised at Lansing by his parents Jim and Julia Mervyn who had eight children: Alice, Nora, Florence, Keiser, Dinky (Norman), Gordon, Dicky (David), and Maggie Wood.1) Brothers Norman “Dinky” Mervyn and Kaiser Mervyn were two of five guides hired by Lt. Bill Hammond to guide him from Mayo, over the Mackenzie Mountains, to Norman Wells in 1943. They were looking for an alternate route for the CANOL pipeline. It was a forty-two-day trip and much of it was done in -50 and below weather. Kaiser drowned in Frazer Falls.2)
