David McKay
David McKay was in the Klondike from 1896 to 1903/04. George Carmack told him where to stake when he was going to Forty Mile to stake the Discovery Claim on Bonanza Creek. McKay originally had Claim No. 3 Below Discovery on Bonanza and traded it for #18 Below.1)
McKay was elected as the local mining recorder at a miner's meeting on Bonanza Creek on August 22, 1896.2) Family stories indicate he may have married Matilda Rothweiler in Dawson, and he may have had something to do with her Magnet Roadhouse on Bonanza Creek.3)
