Napoleon E. Picotte
Napoleon E. Picotte came north in 1886. He signed the founding charter of the Yukon Order of Pioneers at Forty Mile in December 1894.1) Picotte was the original locator of Claim No. 14 Above Discovery on Bonanza Creek in 1896.2) Russian prospector John Zarnowsky staked Claim #17 Eldorado Creek and sold it to Picotte and James Hall for $10,000 - $5,000 down and $5,000 on reaching bedrock. The partners reportedly recovered over a million dollars’ worth of gold.3)
