Charlie Rivers (1894 - 1977)

Charlie River was a Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in man born at Forty Mile. He was appointed a Special Constable with the North-West Mounted Police and was a member of Corporal Dempster’s party in search of the lost Fitzgerald Patrol in 1911.¹⁾ Mary Roberts and Charlie Rivers raised seven children. Mary was the daughter of Chief Charlie and Sarah Jane James, and the sister of Chief Robert Charles (aka Robert Nootlah).²⁾ Charlie Rivers and his family are buried in Dawson’s Hillside Cemetery.³⁾
