Linda Rapp (1956 - 2022)
Linda Rapp was a recreation director in Saskatchewan before moving to Faro where she ran the recreation centre. She became the Whitehorse program planner in 1984 and later became the manager of parks and recreation before becoming director of community and recreation services in 2012.1)
Linda was one of the founders of Paddlers Abreast, a team of breast cancer survivors that compete in the annual Yukon River Quest Yukon River race. She and ten others first entered the race in 2001 and Linda entered the race many years after the first time, putting in a total of 7,865 km.2)
Rapp took on the role of acting city manager in 2017 and in March 2018 became the Whitehorse city manager. Her experience included looking at every job in the city staff and how those positions were rated. She also spent many years looking at emergency services for the city. She worked on many Arctic Winter Games as well as the 2007 Canada Winter Games.3) In 2019, Linda Rapp was the recipient of the Association of Yukon Communities Hanseatic Award for excellence in municipal leadership.4)
