Leland L. “Bud” Rogers (b. 1936)
Bud Rogers lived at Bear Creek from 1940 until 1953. He attended school in Dawson and worked for the Yukon Consolidated Gold Corp (YCGC) in 1951, 1952, and 1954 in the engineering department. He assisted the surveyors in calculating the yardage of gravel processed by the dredges by measuring the dredge cuts and calculating the volume. Bud also worked in the field measuring the cuts.1) Bud worked as a master mechanic in the machine shop and after ten years became the shop superintendent. In 1961, he was appointed assistant manager of the company under John F. Sealey.2)
When YCGC closed down in 1966, Bud remained at the Bear Creek camp as watchman and caretaker of the company’s equipment and buildings.3) Bud ran a mechanic’s business at the Bear Creek machine shop for many years. He and his son and daughter scanned 3,000 slides from Bud's photo collection.4)
