Mabel Robson. (d. 2003)

Mabel Robson and her husband Leo Heisz trapped near Upper Liard for many years. They were actively involved in the Watson Lake Fur Council and initiated two very important programs aimed at promoting trapping in the Yukon and across Canada. For many years, the trappers from Upper Liard and Watson Lake hosted a sit-down dinner of moose and bannock to hundreds of Airstream caravaners. The dinner was a popular annual excursion for the company. Mabel and Leo told stories about the Yukon trappers and the wilderness. They also started campground talks in the public campgrounds throughout the territory. They led lively discussions about sustainability, animal welfare, economic viability, culture and tradition. These talks ended when Leo died and Mabel's health declined.1)
