Carson Shade

Carson Shade was a United States Air Force Lieutenant who flew through the Yukon to Fairbanks during the later years of the war. He formed a company with his brothers to bring hunters from Los Angeles to Teslin via a DC-3. The hunters were taken from there by bus to hunting camps along the Canol Road. A new load of hunters came in every two weeks in 1946. The Shades hired First Nation guides.1)

Publicist James Bond and Carson Shade introduced fly-in hunting camps in the 1940s and made Yukon big-game hunting an international sport.2)
