W.V. Sommerville

W.V. Sommerville was the manager and C.A. Walsh the editor of a four-page journal, Klondike Miner and Yukon Advertiser, first published in Dawson around September 1898. It was a tradesman journal that also claimed to be a champion for the miners. It commented on Dawson society as having an odoriferous stench with few virtuous and respectable women. The 10 March 1899 edition included a dispatch from the Philippines and an article on the English Queen’s grandson. The Miner creased publication in August 1899.1)
