Andrew M. Taylor
Andy Taylor was a well-known White River guide and one of the first prospectors in the Chisana District in Alaska. Taylor was sometimes called “the pathfinder of the White.” He led the International Boundary Commission parties when they surveyed the US/Canadian border in 1912.1)
Taylor staked Bonanza Creek Claim No. 2 in Chisana in 1913 and mined No. 7 Fraction. He partnered with Joe McClellan in 1916 and 1917 and mined by himself in 1918.2) Taylor used his Chisana gold to pay some debts, buy supplies, and then celebrate.3) He was listed as a prospector in the 1920 census. In 1925, Taylor guided the first expedition to climb Mt. Logan.4)
