Ron Veale
Ron Veale practiced law in Ontario before moving to the Yukon in the 1970s. He was the Liberal MLA for Riverdale South and was the leader of the Yukon Liberal Party in the 1980s. In 1984, he ran unsuccessfully in the federal election against the incumbent Conservative Erik Nielsen. After twenty years on the bench, Veale retired as the first Chief Justice of Yukon in July 2020. He was succeeded by Suzanne Duncan, the first woman to hold the position.1)
