Roger Voisine
Roger Voisine came to the Yukon from Quebec in 1967 to work for Imperial Mine’s exploration branch. Shortly after, he started his own company which he ran until his retirement in the early 1990s. His business card read “Artisite de la machete.” He was an accomplished bush man and cut line as straight as an arrow. In the old days, line cutters were required to pound in stakes every twenty-five metres. In 2009, Voisine was placed on the Honour Roll of the Yukon Prospectors’ Association and presented with a golden machete to mark the occasion. The award was presented by Gerry Carlson, president of Copper Ridge Explorations, Jim McFaull, president of the Prospector’s Association, and Denis Jacob, who worked for Voisine for many years before he started his own company after Voisine retired.1)
