Anne Wally, nee Carvill, Lanatk (1946 – 2020)
Anne Carvill was born in Carcross to parents Margaret and Andrew Carvill. She married Archie Norquay and they spent years living in Alberta and British Columbia. They had five children before they moved back to the Yukon and the marriage ended. Anne married John Wally and they were together for fifteen years. Anne Wally was elected chief of the Carcross Tagish First Nation in 1980 and served in the position until 1984, the first woman in the Yukon to be elected as the chief of a First Nation. She later married Willie Martin and they spent many loving years together.1)
