Byron Woolcock
Byron Woolcock was the Anglican rector at Dawson in 1966. That year the town of Clinton creek was established and Woolcock established a church on the main street. Dawson was dying in everyone’s estimation and Clinton Creek was seen to be a saviour for jobs as the Yukon Consolidated Gold Corp closed down. Dawson had a population of 400 to 500 people that year. Forest fires came within six miles of the Midnight Dome. Mr. Woolcock was living at the back of the first floor of the former hostel as the rectory was no longer livable.1)
