Jack Ward

Jack Ward married Captain Hoggan's oldest daughter, Lily. Ward was the telegraph operator at Hootalinqua at the time. They had a family of two or three children and then they were transferred to Fort Selkirk to the telegraph office there. Between the Wards and the Wilkinsons they had seven children, enough for a government school. Before this, children in the community attended a mission school.¹⁾
